This session will cover how you can become a “maker” using Windows 10 IoT Core. I’ll briefly cover how to set up tools for Win10 IoT development, and then demonstrate creating an application that reads sensor data and creates a real-time data stream over the Internet to mobile phones and wearable devices such as the Moto360 and Apple Watch.
This is an evolution of my code camp talk, and will likely be very similar to the NDC Oslo talk I’m doing next week. I will go over not TPL, Async/Await, Dataflow or Rx specifically, but how to receive thousands of messages a second and produce a similar amount of updates per second. Rx is used to capture data, Dataflow to aggregate it, TPL/async/await to code other parts. Also demonstrated will be the use of a Mediator to select prioritized thread pools to keep UI responsive and route commands to methods through the appropriate threading contexts.
